    A grid system is used to transfer electrical energy from the power station to the user. This is done with a step up transformer to increase the voltage to a high value before transmission and a step down transformer to reduce the voltage at the end of transmission for consumption. Using the grid, electrical supply can be adapted to suit the demand.Voltage before transmission is step up to a high value to reduce power loss.
